Minister Plenipetentiary Nada El Agizy is the Director of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation Department at the League of Arab States. She joined the Arab League in 1992 and has more than 20 years of experience in economic and social development at the regional and international levels.
Ms. Nada El Agizy has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from University of Cumbria in the UK where her studies were focused on sustainable management.
Before her most recent appointment; Ms. El Agizy was Deputy Chief of Cabinet and adviser for economic and social affairs to H.E. the Secretary General, she was responsible for setting recommendations and preparation of policy notes on key issues like economic integration, reform and development. She also supervised the Information and Communication department in the Cabinet of the Secretary General.
In her recent capacity her department acts as the technical Secretariat for the Arab High Level Committee for Sustainalbe Development and is also responsible for organizing “The Arab Sustainable Development Week”, the largest regional multi-stakeholder dialogue platform in the Arab region.
Ms. Nada El Agizy is a member of a group of regional and international task forces and has contributed to the preparation of all Arab development summits, and represents the Arab League in international and regional forums on sustainable development.
Ms. Sujala Pant has over 15 years experience working on sustainable development, governance, and climate finance. Currently, she serves as the Chief Technical Advisor/Project Manager of the SDG-Climate Facility: Climate Action for Human Security project, overseeing the delivery of the USD 10 million project, and working with the founding partners of the project to contribute to the climate-security agenda in the region. Prior to this, Sujala served with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) where she supported countries in the ECIS and Middle East regions to access climate finance more effectively. She managed the GCF’s USD 15 million technical assistance portfolio in the region, providing strategic advice to national governments, including Ministers and senior decision-makers to align national development and climate change priorities with comprehensive strategic frameworks to guide investments. Before that, she had a number of assignments with UNDP at the regional and global level, including in her role as Asia-Pacific Governance and Climate Finance Advisor for the Bangkok-based Governance of Climate Finance project, as well as Special Assistant to the Head of Governance in UNDP Headquarters, New York. During her tenure with the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) Sujala was based in Bhutan and Nepal, working with national and sub-national entities to strengthen their planning and implementation capacities. Sujala has a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, UK.
